Class Events

After a very early start, it was time to start heading home. We have all had a wonderful time here on the Isle of Wight, making memories that will last a lifetime. We would like to thank The Fernside Guest House for hosting us for the week and The Isle of Wight Experience for organising a week full of fun packed activities.

Now we are back we are ready for the long weekend where we can rest, relax and recover!!!

Today has been a day of exploring the Isle of Wight. Our day started with another filling breakfast, then we were off to Alum Bay to discover the colourful sands of the Isle of Wight. We had great fun filling our jars with the coloured sands and creating glorious patterns. We were looking forward to seeing where it came from. After a walk of 183 steps down to the dock, it was time for our boat trip around the Needles, a wonderful experience learning all about the lighthouse, the sand cliffs and the history of how the Needles got their name.

The afternoon was spent on the beach searching for fossils. The children thoroughly enjoyed listening to Flick and seeing all the fossils that had been found along the Jurassic coastline. A few were lucky to find; fine crystals, fossilised stones, fools gold and even an Iguanodon footprint!

Our evening activity was bowling, which the children all enjoyed! A super way to end a fantastic week away!

After a full day yesterday, the children all slept well and were well rested for today's activities. We have enjoyed a 'thrilling' day at Blackgang Chine! A day of thrills and excitement on the rides and attractions at the theme park. A particular favourite was the 'Cliffhanger'; a roller coaster ride which was enjoyed over and over and over and over again!

Tonight's entertainment is fun and games on the beach.

After a good night's sleep, and a hearty breakfast, the children were ready for action this morning. First, we headed over to the Isle of Wight Steam Railway and began with a relaxing train journey taking in views of the Island. After a look around the museum, we were treated to a bird of prey display.

The afternoon was a real eye opener for the children. We visited the Isle of Wight Zoo, where the children thoroughly enjoyed learning more about animal conservation and endangered species. The children were enthusiastic about furthering their learning on their return to school and supporting the zoo's work on protecting animals.

This evening's entertainment is a round of crazy golf!

What a fantastic start to our trip to the Isle of Wight! The weather has been glorious!

The journey to Portsmouth was smooth and we made it in good time. We first went to the HMS Victory and saw first hand how the sailors and captains lived aboard.  At 4:00 pm we made our way slowly and surely across The Solent. It was a lovely crossing with the opportunity for the children to go out on the deck to take in the views. Once unpacked and eaten, we went for an evening stroll along the beach.

We're all thoroughly tired but looking forward to more fun tomorrow!
